Project Report_Hate

Project Type:

KA220-YOU – Cooperation partnerships in youth

Project Description:

Report Hate: Building up possibilities for young people to report and strengthening youth work in working against hate speech is a project that aims at creating the first transnational hate speech reporting portal for young people. The project will increase the quality of service against hate speech in the youth sector in a significant and innovative way. Although this partnership is composed of 7 members, a new transnational portal will be implemented in only three of them: Hungary, North Macedonia, and Croatia. The other partners will aid in collaboration and training as well as integrate their existing portals to incite youngsters to report hate speech.

Project Objectives:

The main objectives of this project are to increase the quality and recognition of youth work in participating countries and beyond by developing reporting possibilities focused on youngsters and thus empowering young people to report and combat hate speech. A transnational portal for hate speech reporting in the languages of the project countries is developed – for using synergies and for promoting our consortium of youth work organisations on national and international levels. Therefore, with Report_Hate, we want to give young people the opportunity to become active.

Project Implementation:

The project will implement new reporting possibilities in North Macedonia and Hungary as well as reactivate the Croatian Portal to frame in a transnational reporting portal, promoted by an accompanying social media campaign targeting on young people. The project will focus on building a strong transnational network by involving the partners from Germany, Israel, Slovakia, and Spain and with connections to the International Network Against Cyber Hate, to the European Youth Information and Counselling Agency (ERYICA) and with local youth work structures.

Project Results:

The project focuses on creating three new reporting possibilities for hate speech. One transnational hate speech reporting portal with focus on young people is developed and promoted in a broad-based social media campaign. Local stakeholder networks are established. In the second year of the project, reports of hate speech from the partner countries with reporting possibilities are received and documented.
